A decarbonization funding first

The European Outdoor Group’s Impact Accelerator Fund launches its first project in Taiwan, enhancing renewable energy access for the outdoor industry.

The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has unveiled the first project to receive funding from its Impact Accelerator Fund (IAF), which will target the enhancement of renewable energy access in Taiwan – a key manufacturing base for the outdoor industry. Led by the German consultancy firm Act Renewable, the project will begin with a thorough survey of available options, followed by feasibility assessments and subsequent implementation of the chosen solution.

Recognizing the substantial scale of action required for the sector to achieve net-zero targets, the EOG established the IAF in 2023 to facilitate collective financing of projects that go beyond standard CSR and sustainability budgets. Its primary goal is to scale up decarbonization projects and climate change mitigation within outdoor industry supply chains. Contributors to the IAF currently include Ortovox, Gore-Tex, Icebug, and Vaude.

“We look forward to working with act renewable to deliver the project in Taiwan,” shares Dr Verity Hardy of the EOG, who will be managing the project.

“I hope this news will encourage more companies to consider supporting the fund, which will ultimately benefit the whole outdoor sector.”
