Outdoor Impact Summit to tackle real-world sustainability issues

EOG launches the first Outdoor Impact Summit this May. From circularity to policy updates to a sustainability “Walk & Talk” along Munich’s stunning Isar River, register now to get access to the sustainability event of the year.

The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has unveiled full details of the first Outdoor Impact Summit, to be held in May. The new event will bring together the outdoor industry to explore practical approaches to sustainability, corporate responsibility, and community engagement. The EOG has now confirmed the topics that will be covered, along with organizations and individuals who will provide content. The summit is being sponsored by Bluesign and ISPO and delivered in partnership with the Bundesverband der Deutschen Sportartikel-Industrie e.V. (BSI). It will be hosted at Messe Munich from 19–20 May, with places now available to book online at outdoorimpactsummit.com.

Focused on circularity, biodiversity, and compliance

The inaugural Outdoor Impact Summit will provide an opportunity to learn, share insights, discuss emerging trends, and strengthen partnerships aimed at advancing the industry’s positive impact on both the environment and society. The event will focus on three themes: impact and circularity; impact and biodiversity; and impact and policy and compliance. Working with sponsors and partners, the EOG has confirmed a line-up of thought leaders and industry experts, for a focused, collaborative experience designed to deliver valuable insights and actionable strategies that delegates can take back to their organizations.

Tools, dialogue, and expert perspectives

The Outdoor Impact Summit agenda will be varied, but always focused on the event themes. Highlights will include:

  • An interactive workshop led by textile innovation and sustainability expert Bowie Miles, offering tools and collaboration opportunities to support a business in becoming “nature positive”
  • Panel discussions with Eva Karlsson from Houdini, Nina Hajikanian from Patagonia, and Antje von Dewitz from Vaude
  • An update on policy from Brussels with Jerome Pero of the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI)
  • A presentation and film screening by non-profit campaigning organization Protect Our Winters
  • Policy communications masterclass with One Voice for Outdoor
  • A session on the EU Omnibus Simplification Package with public affairs consultancy Ohana and Fair Wear Foundation
  • A hike and talk hosted by Suston and Green Room Voice, exploring how outdoor companies can communicate sustainability in a way that is credible, business-driven, and engaging

Networking and climate-focused fundraising

Along with the formal programme, the first Outdoor Impact Summit will also include numerous opportunities for networking and freeform discussions. A party on the evening of 19 May will allow delegates to relax and discuss sustainability in a sociable setting. The EOG has announced that all profits from the summit will be donated to the Impact Accelerator Fund, a collaborative outdoor industry initiative that is dedicated to supporting decarbonization projects and climate mitigation actions within supply chains.

A call to action from EOG leadership

“We have created the Outdoor Impact Summit with two very clear objectives – to elevate the discourse on sustainability in the outdoor sector, and to deliver practical solutions that delegates can take back to their businesses and implement,” shares EOG director Christian Schneidermeier.

“This is going to be possible thanks to the contributions of a really impressive line-up of partners – individuals and organisations who are true experts in their fields, and passionate about what they do. I urge colleagues to join us in Munich on 19 and 20 May for what will be a stimulating and motivational event.”

Places at the first Outdoor Impact Summit cost €179, which includes the one and a half day conference, refreshments, networking drinks, dinner, and lunch.

Join Suston for a ‘Walk and Talk’

On May 19th, 10:30 – 14:30 Suston would like to welcome all Outdoor Impact Summit participants for an inspiring morning where we take sustainability communication into the wild.

On a guided hike along Munich’s stunning Isar River, participants will explore how outdoor companies can communicate sustainability in a way that is both credible and business-driven – while truly engaging their audience. We’ll share insights, challenges, and opportunities, all while breathing fresh air and letting nature remind us why sustainability is more than just words.

Your hosts for this event will be Gabriel Arthur, Editor-in-chief of Suston Magazine and CEO of NORR Agency, and the founders of GreenroomVoice, Cira Riedel & Anna Rodewald.

About EOG

The European Outdoor Group was founded in 2003 (formally constituted in 2005) by 19 of the world’s largest outdoor companies, all of which recognized the need for a cohesive, cross-border approach to representation of the outdoor sector. In a world of increasing internationalization, legislation, environment, the media and trade are all now multinational issues. The combined strength of the EOG’s membership of around 150 provides the group with an extremely powerful force to represent the European outdoor industry in a constructive and positive manner.
