PrimaLoft launches its warmest synthetic insulation

PrimaLoft has introduced UltraPeak, a synthetic insulation material developed using architectural fiber structures. The company says the product delivers increased warmth and loft while using recycled materials and lower-emission production methods.

PrimaLoft has announced the launch of UltraPeak, a new synthetic insulation material the company describes as its warmest to date.

The development follows several years of research and builds on the company’s experience in fiber technology. Founded in 1984, PrimaLoft has focused on performance insulation materials used in outdoor apparel and equipment.

Architectural fibers designed to improve insulation performance

According to the company, UltraPeak uses specially engineered “architectural” fibers that form a structural framework within the insulation. This structure is designed to retain heat more efficiently while also improving loft and elasticity.

The result, PrimaLoft says, is an insulation material that combines increased warmth with a soft hand feel.

“UltraPeak is dedicated to the relentless,” said Andrea Paulson, Senior Vice President of Technology and Innovation at PrimaLoft.

“By rethinking fiber architecture, we developed an insulation that meets the performance standards expected by even the most demanding outdoor adventurers.”

The architectural fibers blend with surrounding microfibers to create a scaffold-like structure within the insulation. This design is intended to improve loft and elasticity while creating a look and structure similar to down.

The company says this approach makes it possible to achieve down-like loft and performance within a sheet insulation structure. Compared with loose-fill materials, this format may also simplify manufacturing for brands producing insulated apparel.

PrimaLoft positions UltraPeak within broader insulation strategy

This technology sets a new benchmark for the industry and reinforces our mission ‘Relentlessly Responsible’ to deliver responsibly produced products that extend the boundaries of performance.”

UltraPeak is produced using 100 percent recycled materials and the company’s P.U.R.E. manufacturing technology. According to PrimaLoft, this production method reduces carbon emissions during insulation manufacturing by 50 percent or more compared with conventional processes.

Production changes across the PrimaLoft insulation portfolio

The launch is part of a broader effort by PrimaLoft to transition its insulation portfolio toward lower-emission production methods. In January 2025, the company converted its Gold Insulation line to P.U.R.E manufacturing, reducing the carbon emissions associated with the product.

PrimaLoft says it plans to expand the use of this production technology across its insulation portfolio in the coming seasons. New technologies, including UltraPeak, are being developed using the process from the outset.
