Out of love for nature and people, Deuter is working to reduce its CO2 footprint. Not alone, but together with others. Many small actions can make a big difference.

T he topic of sustainability plays an important role in all areas at Deuter. Whether it’s materials, reducing CO2 emissions, improving working conditions in factories or a lifelong repair service – Deuter works with independent institutions and closely with its production partners.

Deuter has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) since 2011 and has held Leader status – the FWF’s OutDoor by ISPO: Come visit us on our stand at A1.202 highest honor – each year since 2013. The FWF is an independent multi-stakeholder initiative that works with companies and factories to improve working conditions in the production facilities of the textile and clothing industry, especially in local production countries.

In addition, Deuter is a member of the Alliance for Sustainable Textiles, certified with the Green Button and has been a Bluesign system partner since 2008. Bluesign is the world’s strictest standard for environmental protection, occupational safety and consumer protection. All of Deuter’s production partners are Bluesign system partners. The number of Bluesign materials and Bluesign products is also growing steadily. All new products (2024) are also Climate Partner certified.

Product responsibility lasts a lifetime

Despite high quality and loving care, any product will eventually show signs of wear at some point. That’s why Deuter offers its customers a lifetime repair service, true to the motto “repairing is better than throwing away.

Deuter utilizes the warming properties of down for its sleeping bags. Since 2015, it has only used feathers that are certified in accordance with the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). This means that husbandry and animal welfare must be traceable throughout the entire production chain and fulfill strict requirements.

Since 2019, Deuter has completely avoided the use of PFC/PFAS in the waterproofing of its products. To ensure the products are still water and dirt repellent, Deuter uses a finish that is harmless to both health and the environment.
