Yonderland cuts direct emissions by 71 percent, scales circular services in 2025

Yonderland – the international outdoor retail group operating A.S. Adventure, Bever, Cotswold Outdoor, Snow+Rock, Runners Need, and JUTTU across Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, and the UK – has published its Annual Sustainability Report 2025, covering progress across climate action, circularity, and supply chain engagement.

The report, published in April 2026, documents measurable progress across direct emissions reduction, supply chain transparency, and circular services, with the company reporting advances in all five areas.

2025 sustainability highlights

On climate action, Yonderland reduced its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 71 percent against its 2019 baseline, exceeding its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) near-term target of 50 percent reduction by 2027 – three years ahead of schedule. Total corporate carbon footprint fell by 15.5 percent vs. 2019. On supply chain engagement, 53 percent of brands by emission contribution now have science-based aligned climate targets in place, against a 2027 target of 74.6 percent. For the first time, product-level carbon footprint data provided directly by brands was integrated into Scope 3 reporting, covering approximately 67 percent of emissions in the largest category.

Across circular services, Yonderland recorded growth in every category in 2025:

  • Over 23,000 repairs completed, up 5 percent year-on-year
  • Over 21,000 washes completed, up 8 percent year-on-year
  • Over 65,000 pairs of shoes reproofed, up 14 percent year-on-year
  • Over 59,000 units rented, up 6 percent year-on-year, including more than 52,000 pairs of skis
  • Over 16,700 second-hand items sold, up 49 percent year-on-year, across 34 stores

Over 147,000 kg of clothing, footwear, and equipment was also collected through Recycle My Gear schemes across the group’s stores, up 4 percent year-on-year. The group recycling rate improved from 80 to 81 percent.

A shifting policy landscape

The results come as political support for climate action has weakened in several major economies. Melanie Grünwald, Head of Sustainability at Yonderland, addressed the shift directly in the report’s foreword, noting that the underlying risks are becoming more tangible rather than less.

“While the scientific urgency of climate action, resource and biodiversity protection continues to intensify, the global policy environment has become more fragmented and, in some regions, more hesitant.”

She added that physical risks are no longer theoretical, and pointed to extreme weather events, water stress, and supply chain disruptions that are already testing the resilience of retail and manufacturing sectors.

Grünwald said Yonderland’s response is to treat sustainability as a core operational discipline rather than a separate agenda.

“Our focus is not only on compliance, but on building resilience, credibility, and long-term value in a rapidly changing world.”
