Footwear brand’s films take transparency to new level

Italian footwear brand Aku creates new series of videos aimed to increase transparency and elevate the sustainability efforts of its suppliers.

Few brands take traceability as seriously as Aku, which carefully keeps track of the origins of every component used in its products. Moreover, it takes transparency to a level virtually unheard of, making it possible for its customers to easily access this information with a single click on its product pages.

Now, in the continued spirit of full disclosure, Aku wants its customers to get to know its key suppliers Dani Leather, Gazziero Strings and Laces, Friulrubber, Vela Technologies, and Frasson. Aku’s CSR manager Giulio Piccin explains why:

“Usually the supply chain transparency tools just include a list of suppliers and their address. These supplier videos take another step, showing not just the people behind but most importantly their passion for what they do and how focused they are to reduce their impact.”

He continues to share that these stories also bear witness to the family feeling that there is between Aku and its suppliers, some of which they have been working closely together with for up 30 years.

Giulio Piccin believes that in addition to the interests of transparency, the hard work of the suppliers towards their shared sustainability goals deserves recognition.

“Participating in the Aku Behind the Label project was extremely well received by our suppliers. They were happily surprised to have the chance through us to speak directly to the end-user and show how good their work is,” shares Giulio Piccin, before concluding:

“We are passionate about outdoor footwear making with a responsible approach. We wanted to show that without suppliers with the same passion, we can’t have an impact.”
