Cotopaxi saves 7,000 football fields of deadstock fabrics

Cotopaxi has published its 2025 Impact Report, marking a landmark year for environmental performance and humanitarian giving – from a near-eightfold increase in deadstock fabric use to over $1 million directed toward poverty alleviation.

Cotopaxi, the Utah-based outdoor brand and certified B Corporation, released its 2025 Impact Report in April 2026, documenting performance across its philanthropic, climate, and product programs.

One major highlight is that in 2025, Cotopaxi used 840,603 yards of deadstock fabric in its packs production – a near-eightfold increase from the 101,181 yards reported in 2024, and equivalent to roughly 7,000 football fields. The materials, sourced from textile industry leftovers, are most prominently used in the brand’s Del Día Collection, where each product is one of a kind. On the resale side, 7,343 items were recirculated through resale partners, with a 97 percent sell-through rate recorded through ThredUp.

Gaining ground on poverty reduction

Beyond materials and product performance, Cotopaxi is also making gains on what the company describes as its core purpose: fighting poverty. The Cotopaxi Foundation directed $937,300 to grantee partners in fiscal year 2025, with total company giving reaching $1,239,453. An estimated 211,419 people were reached through foundation grants – up from 169,327 the previous year – bringing the cumulative total to over 4.7 million.

Grant recipients included CARE Ecuador, supporting women-led agricultural enterprises, and United to Beat Malaria, which directly reached 155,670 people across Latin America.

CEO on 2025: progress and urgency

In her letter in the report, CEO Lindsay Shumlas acknowledged both gains and unfinished work.

“At Cotopaxi, we exist to fight poverty, improve livelihoods, and inspire adventure. As we reflect on 2025, I feel a strong sense of both hope and urgency,” she wrote, pointing to supply chain decarbonization, worker protections, and ongoing remediation efforts in the company’s supply chain as priorities.

“Cotopaxi was founded on the belief that adventure inspires progressive action. In 2025, that belief feels more relevant than ever.”
