Circular Milestone

Sympatex, Wear2Wear and Design2Recycle present an innovative vision of the future of circular design.

At the 2019 AplusA Fair in Dusseldorf, Sympatex presented the latest milestone in the journey towards its goal of 100 percent circularity by 2030: a fully waterproof, highly functional – and completely recyclable – workwear jacket.

The product was developed in collaboration with Design2Recycle and Swiss Wear2Wear cofounder Schoeller Textil. The jacket was designed in a manner that combines the best worlds of ecological and economical reuse in a single product, all without the need for time-consuming and costly separation processes.

Apart from the Sympatex membrane, high value was also placed on fully reusable polyester in the selection of the materials for the jacket components (i.e. cord, zippers, Velcro fasteners) in order to manufacture a recycled, unmixed polyester product that in turn can be easily fed back into the upcycling process at the end of its life cycle.
